Check Credentials with MS CRM 4.0 Fails

    Answer

I am trying to install the 30 trial to determine if this product will work to solve our issues with integrating QuickBooks to CRM and vice versa.  I am having difficultiy getting past the inital check of CRM credentials.  Please refer to the error message below.  As you can see the validation against the active directory is failing.  I have supplied the form with a vaild domain user name and password.  Further, the HTML you see is displayed as source.  It is not being rendered.  I have no idea what is going on.

According to the error message I believe you are entering the server/hostname incorrectly or it is incomplete.  Is there a port associated with the CRM instance you are connected to such as "5555" the default?

To determine the server, if you open the browser on the same computer that the application is installed to and then navigate to your CRM instance what is the url?

Re: Check Credentials with MS CRM 4.0 Fails

    Answer

I followed your instructions and added the port to the server name.  Please refer to the embedded image to see the URL and how I populated the Check Credentials dialog.  With these values, the check against the Active Directory still fails.

Regarding the Server Name/Host Name Values, I have tried:

      . DEV1:5555

      . DEV1:5555/lascolinasassociation

      . DEV1:5555/lascolinasassociation/loader.aspx

Please advise me on any other combinations.  This is an on premise instance of MSCRM.

The path to the CRM instance is still invalid.  Unfortunately I can not comment on your deployment and where it is located however I can provide assistance on how to obtain the correct server / hostname path.

the error message states it is unable to find  "/lascolinasassociation/MSCRMService/2007/AD/CrmDiscoveryService.asmx'.  This is appended to the end of the server path so the full path would be:

    dev1:5555/lascolinasassociation/MSCRMService/2007/AD/CrmDiscoveryService.asmx

What happens when you navigate to the path within your browser?

If nothing comes up can you please log into CRM from your browser and while sitting at the main screen that shows accounts, can you copy and paste the full path that is within the URL bar of the browser?

Re: Check Credentials with MS CRM 4.0 Fails

    Answer

    Jesse,

I typed your URL into the browser and I got "file not found".  I have two organizations.  One is LasColinasAssociation and the other is OrganizationX.  When I type this URL into the browser I get the source for the CrmDiscoveryServer.asmx file, which is a webservice:

    http://dev1:5555/OrganizationX/MSCRMServices/2007/AD/CrmDiscoveryService.asmx

Please notice that your URL has MSCRMService (singular) and my URL has MSCRMServices (plural).  Further, I do indeed have that file on the server at the following UNC location:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\CRMWeb\MSCRMServices\2007\AD

You asked this question:  "If nothing comes up can you please log into CRM from your browser and while sitting at the main screen that shows accounts, can you copy and paste the full path that is within the URL bar of the browser?"

Here are the two URL's, one for each organization:

    OrganizationX  - http://dev1:5555/OrganizationX/loader.aspx

    LasColinasAssociation - http://dev1:5555/LasColinasAssociation/loader.aspx

Further, if I type http://dev1:5555 into the browser, it takes me to OrganizationX by default.

    Thanks,

    John Criswell

The lack of an s in MSCRMService was a type on my part.  It should be plural as you have it.

Can you please try a server / hostname of within the application:

    dev1:5555/OrganizationX
